About Remote Build Consulting

Hi, I’m Ross Iles — a builder and property developer with 30+ years’ experience in residential construction.

I started out as a carpenter in my teenage years, learning the trade hands-on and understanding what really matters on site: good planning, good sequencing, and good decisions at the right time. By the time I was 20, I’d bought my first property, and not long after I completed my first self-build project — an experience that taught me just how many moving parts there are for a homeowner, and how quickly costs and stress can climb without the right guidance.

Over the last three decades, I’ve worked with clients through every stage of a building project — from early scoping and feasibility, to design coordination, builder selection, programming, problem-solving during the works, and ultimately signing off a project and handing over the keys. Throughout that time, I’ve completed multiple refurbishments and self-build projects — both for clients and for myself — which has given me a deep, practical understanding of how to manage complexity, control costs, and deliver quality finishes.

Alongside client projects, I’ve built and managed a large property portfolio across multiple uses, including HMOs, private rentals, commercial property, and holiday accommodation. That practical “owner’s eye view” means I’m always thinking about build quality, durability, value for money, and how decisions play out over the long term — not just what looks good on day one.

In recent years, through word of mouth, I began supporting homeowners who wanted access to real-world expertise without the cost of a full-time project manager. That’s how Remote Build Consulting was born: a remote, client-side service where you can tap into my experience for clear advice, guidance, and coaching — helping you move forward with confidence and avoid expensive mistakes.
